James Lancaster has a long and varied work history. In 2019, they became the Chief Executive Officer of Solenic Medical, a medical device company developing a non-invasive treatment for infected metallic implants. In 2018, they were the Interim CEO of Tesseract Structural Innovations, a company developing solutions for vehicle safety. From 2009 to 2018, they were the Founder, Owner of Innovate Family of Companies, which makes early stage angel investments in science and technology ventures in Texas. In 2018, they were also the Managing Director of the Texas Branch of VIC Technology Venture Development. From 2009 to 2012, they were the CEO of Ecolyse, Inc. (formerly Phage Biocontrol, Inc.), a biological control company. From 2009 to 2015, they were the President/Chairman of the AM Innovation Center, a nonprofit organization providing innovation advisory services for entrepreneurs and startups. From 2012 to 2015, they were the CFO (formerly CEO) of Shape Memory Medical, Inc., a medical device company. From 2005 to 2007, they were on the Board of Managers of Avalion Consulting. From 2007 to 2009, they were the General Manager of The Research Valley Innovation Center, a science and technology incubator/accelerator. Finally, from 2005 to 2009, they were the President/CEO/Chairman of TotalChart, Inc., a company providing an advanced coding application, dictation, and chart functions.

James Lancaster obtained a BBA in Business Analysis & Research - MIS from Texas A&M University from 1987 to 1989. James then went on to obtain an MBA in Information Systems Management from The University of Texas at Austin from 1990 to 1992. James also obtained a edX Verified Certificate for Fintech Overview from edX in July 2022.
