Pasi Vainikka has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Pasi is currently working as an MI Champion at Mission Innovation since May 2019. Prior to that, they held the position of CEO at Solar Foods Oy from March 2018 onwards and also served as the co-founder and board member of the company since November 2017. Pasi was a co-founder of Soletair Power, where they served as a board member from November 2016 to April 2019. Pasi was also an Adjunct Professor at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) starting from December 2014. Pasi co-founded Day1 and worked as a start-up mentor at LUT Entrepreneurship Society from January 2019. Additionally, they worked at VTT for various roles including Principal Scientist, Neo-Carbon Energy research programme's Accountable Project Leader, Head of Research Strategy, Principal Investigator, Key Account Manager, and Senior Research Scientist from 2010 to 2018. Prior to that, they were a PhD Researcher at Åbo Akademi University / Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry from January 2009 to December 2009, and a Research Scientist at VTT from May 2002 to 2009.
Pasi Vainikka began their education at LUT University, where they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Energy Economics from 1997 to 2002. Following this, they attended Cranfield University from 2000 to 2001, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree with a focus on Energy Systems and Thermodynamics. Additionally, they obtained another MSc degree from Cranfield University, although the field of study is not provided. Pasi later enrolled at Åbo Akademi University from 2007 to 2011, where they completed a DSc degree in Chemical Engineering.
