Mark Pawelek has an extensive work experience in the banking and financial services industry. Mark is currently the Senior Vice President at Solidifi, a Real Matters Inc. company that provides collateral risk management and real-estate services to the mortgage lending industry. Prior to that, they served as the Director on the Board of Directors and Board Secretary at Harold and Grace Baker Long Term Care Centre. From 2019 to 2021, they held the position of Chief Compliance Officer at motusbank, a digital full-service bank, where they were responsible for managing compliance risk. Mark also worked as the Chief Privacy Officer at Meridian Credit Union, the largest credit union in Ontario and the second largest in Canada, from 2019 to 2021. Mark had additional roles at Meridian, including Chief Compliance Officer for the subsidiary Motus Bank. Earlier in their career, Mark held various positions at Solidifi, where they served as Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Operations from 2008 to 2019. Prior to that, they worked at Equitable Bank as the Director of Product Development and at HSBC where they held progressively senior positions over a 10-year period, including Operations Head for Mortgage Lending, Strategic Sales, and Trust Business Units.
Mark Pawelek completed a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Ottawa between 1989 and 1992. In 2007, they also participated in a Leadership Development Program offered by The Conference Board of Canada. Additionally, they hold certifications in various areas, including the Leadership Development Program from The Conference Board of Canada, Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice from McKissock, LP, and [Candidate] Certified Information Privacy Professional - Canada (CIPP/C) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
