Aaron Gorban serves as the Director of Risk Management at the Appalachian Mountain Club since June 2001, where responsibilities include organization-wide risk management oversight, establishing safety and training standards, and managing incident response protocols and insurance claims. In addition, Gorban coordinates the AMC’s programmatic risk management policies for approximately 7,000 annual programs and serves as the liaison to the Outdoor Leadership Development Committee and chair of the Risk Management Team. Previously, as the Northern New England Workshops Field Coordinator, Gorban managed various tasks for outdoor education programs and directed the Elderhostel Program. Gorban also has been an instructor at SOLO Wilderness Medical School since 2004. Gorban holds a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Studies from Plymouth State University, earned between 1992 and 1996.

We offer a range of courses in wilderness and international travel medicine, from a 2 day basic First Aid to a 4-week intensive Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician. We have a beautiful small campus in Conway, New Hampshire in the heart of the White Mountains, but we offer our courses all over the US and internationally.
