Alex Calderwood, PA-C, is a Critical Care Physician Assistant at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health since March 2021, where responsibilities include creating and adapting individualized care plans, providing solo overnight coverage, performing bedside procedures, and supervising APC fellows. Prior experience includes working as a Critical Care Physician Assistant at Yale New Haven Health, focusing on Trauma and Surgical ICU, and as an Emergency Services Technician at UMass Memorial Medical Center Clinton Hospital. Alex also serves as a Wilderness Medicine Instructor at SOLO Wilderness Medical School, teaching diverse adult learners, and has held various leadership positions in risk management and program coordination with organizations such as the Massachusetts Audubon Society and Earthwatch Institute. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and a Bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University.

We offer a range of courses in wilderness and international travel medicine, from a 2 day basic First Aid to a 4-week intensive Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician. We have a beautiful small campus in Conway, New Hampshire in the heart of the White Mountains, but we offer our courses all over the US and internationally.
