Matt Pietras

Associate Principal, San Francisco at SOLOMON, CORDWELL, BUENZ & ASSOCIATES, INC

Matt Pietras is an Associate Principal with SCB San Francisco’s Campus Environments practice group. A proponent of evidence-based design, Matt’s strategic thinking connects deeply with his clients’ values, elevating their people, and advancing their missions. As a Project Architect, Matt blends a strong sense of design with technical solutions that facilitate complex, interdisciplinary projects. Matt’s project management experience helps him navigate design and consultant teams through challenging permit and entitlement processes, within tight timelines and budgets.

Over the past 20 years, he has been responsible for over two million square feet for premier institutions and organizations including Stanford University, University of California, WeWork, Dow, and Mozilla. Currently, Matt is the Project Manager for the North District Development at the University of California, Riverside, the largest P3 student residential project in the country.

As a co-leader of the firm’s Campus Environments Research & Development group, Matt works to promote a culture of innovation and knowledge building. He is also a co-chair of the AIA San Francisco Committee on Architecture for Education which aims to elevate awareness of the impact that the built environment has on student success. And, to keep his design skills sharp, Matt has served on juries at University of California, Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design and Academy of Art University. He received his Master of Architecture from Columbia University and his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Catholic University of America.
