Damien Murray

Damien Murray has extensive work experience in various roles related to data engineering and software development. Damien is currently serving as the Lead Data Engineer and Data Architect at Solstice Innovations, Inc. since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Allstate from 2010 to 2022 as a Technical Lead and Data Engineer, where they were responsible for creating, enhancing, and maintaining application pipelines using Hadoop and PySpark. Damien also worked on migrating complex ETL applications from Informatica and Oracle to Scality file system and Hadoop.

Before joining Allstate, Damien worked at Citi from 2005 to 2010 as a Software Engineer, where they were involved in requirements gathering, programming solutions using Oracle PL/SQL, and data transformation using Datastage ETL tool. Damien also worked on creating reports using Business Objects, data migration from Oracle to SQL Server using SSIS, and creating SSRS reports.

Damien's earlier experience includes working as a Software Engineer at Allstate from 2001 to 2005, where they developed and maintained a web-based project management application. Damien also worked as a Software Programmer at Lexmark from 1999 to 2001, at Lucent Technologies from 1998 to 1999, and at BT from 1998 to 1998.

In addition to their software engineering roles, Damien also worked as a Research Statistician at Boyne Research Institute in 1998, where they conducted data analysis using SAS. Damien also worked as a Junior Statistician at the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency from 1996 to 1997.

Damien has a strong background in data engineering, software development, and statistical analysis, with a focus on utilizing various tools and technologies to handle complex data pipelines and systems.

Damien Murray obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing from Ulster University, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Prior to that, they completed their A Levels at East Down Institute of Further and Higher education from 1992 to 1994. In addition to their formal education, Damien has also acquired various certifications, including "Apache PySpark by Example" from LinkedIn, "Getting Started with AWS Glue" from Amazon Web Services (AWS), "Institute of Mathematics" from the Institute of Mathematics and Applications, "Learning Data Science: Understanding the Basics" from LinkedIn, "Member of MENSA" from Mensa International, and "VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training" from North Down Development Organisation.
