Vera B. has extensive experience in bioinformatics and research, beginning with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences and an MSc in Cancer Genomics and Developmental Biology from the University of Utrecht. As a PhD student at NKI-AVL from October 2012 to December 2016, Vera B. focused on the DNA damage response on telomeres, identifying the novel factor MAD2L2 related to DNA repair at unprotected telomeres. Vera B. also completed a research internship at the same institution, which contributed to PhD research. Subsequent roles include a Bioinformatics Scientist at Cergentis, where Vera B. developed software and pipelines for NGS data analysis from August 2020 to July 2024, and a current position as Bioinformatics and Software Development Team Lead at Solvias since July 2024, overseeing a team to enhance NGS data analysis tools. Earlier work includes a research internship at the Hubrecht Institute focused on zebrafish heart development.
