Victor was born in Mexico and migrated to Oakland, CA at the age of 8. Growing up in Oakland he experienced the harsh conditions of racialized poverty, and the beauty of community resistance and found his love for community organizing. As a high school student, he organized at his school against unjust discipline practices and pushed for alternatives to suspension that resulted in the creation of the One Land One People Youth Center at Skyline High School. He joins SOMOS Mayfair with experience working as a case manager, after-school coordinator, and grassroots community organizer. He is excited to work with the SOMOS Mayfair staff, promotoras, community leaders, and institutions to build power, implement alternative solutions, and create a thriving and sustainable community. Victor holds a master’s degree in Mexican American/Chican@ Studies with an emphasis in policy, community organizing, and education from San Jose State University.
