Rupert Whitelaw

Rupert Whitelaw has a diverse work experience in the insurance industry. Rupert is currently the Head of Data Governance at Sompo International since 2022. Prior to this, from 2021 to 2022, they worked as the Chief Research Officer and Senior Operational Leader, contemplating their next move.

Before that, from 2018 to 2021, they held a significant role as the Global Head of Data Insights & Innovation at AXA XL, a division of AXA. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of 60 staff members across multiple locations in the US, India, UK, and Europe.

From 2015 to 2018, Rupert worked at XL Catlin in various roles. Rupert served as the Principal Director for Data Advancement & Data Transparency, focusing on data quality, governance, and master data management. Rupert also held the position of Head of Enterprise Data Management Operations, managing MI and Analytics, Data Governance, Data Quality & MDM, and shared service teams in different locations.

Rupert's career at Catlin, from 2007 to 2015, included roles such as Head of Group Data Governance and Group Operations Director. Rupert played a key role in establishing the data governance framework and driving the importance of data across various functions globally. Rupert also built and managed teams for MIS, Delegated Authority Management, and Wordings.
