SonderMind is a VC-backed digital health company redesigning behavioral health through covered and timely access, increased utilization, and data-validated quality outcomes. We are a team of Explorers, Builders, and Change Makers democratizing the complicated world of behavioral healthcare for therapists and clients alike.

How you'll make an impact

With the continued growth of SonderMind it is time to expand our payroll function to include a full- time experienced individual. Payroll processing impacts every employee in our organization on a monthly basis. You will have the opportunity to improve and create new processes that will be experienced company-wide. In this role, you will be viewed as a subject matter expert regarding payroll processing and other payroll related matters.

Success looks like

  • Processing payroll successfully without errors
  • Catching up all state tax registrations, filings, and manual payments within the first 120 days
  • Creating suggestions for process improvements and developing a plan to execute in the first 90 days.
  • What you'll do
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for both non-exempt & exempt employees in our HR/Payroll platform, Zenefits
  • Review and process monthly commissions
  • Audit & submit non-exempt timecard entries
  • Prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll & taxes
  • Process wage garnishments
  • Make adjustments for raises, bonuses, commissions, disability, etc.
  • Submit EOY W2 reporting
  • State tax registrations and filings
  • Participate in month end closing process (payroll accrual, PTO accrual, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.)
  • Assist with payroll related audits as well as annual external audits
  • Other accounting duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • 7-9 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills
  • Self starter and independent worker

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Experience with Zenefits
  • Immediate to expert level skills in Excel
  • Experience with commissions plans & calculations
  • Experience with companies in a fast-paced growth stage

Our Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this role is $96,000 - $120,000. This role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and variable bonus plan. Actual title and compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
