Tim Portwood has a diverse professional background encompassing over four decades of experience in development, legal counsel, and consulting. Currently serving as a Member of the Board of Directors for Sonoma Land Trust since April 2016, Tim previously held senior roles at Marts & Lundy, Inc. and Stanford Hospital & Clinics, including Senior Consultant & Principal and Vice President for Development, respectively. Tim spent 21 years at Stanford University, culminating as Assistant Vice President for Development, where involvement in two billion-dollar campaigns marked significant contributions. Tim’s legal expertise was honed at Bechtel Group Inc. as Counsel and earlier as an Associate Attorney at Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges. An alumnus of Stanford University and Duke University School of Law, Tim holds degrees in History and Law.

Sonoma Land Trust

Sonoma Land Trust conserves scenic, natural, agricultural and open land for the future of Sonoma County by: -Developing long term land protection strategies, -Promoting private and public funding for land conservation, -Acquiring land and conservation easements, -Practicing stewardship, including the restoration of conservation properties, and -Promoting a sense of place and a land ethic through activities, education and outreach. Sonoma Land Trust is a local, nonprofit organization funded largely by membership contributions. The Land Trust works closely with private landowners, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, and other public agencies at all levels of government, nonprofit partners and foundations. Sonoma Land Trust is a member of the California Council of Land Trusts and accredited by the national Land Trust Alliance. Since 1976, Sonoma Land Trust has protected more than 56,000 acres of beautiful, productive and environmentally significant lands in and around Sonoma County.
