Iris Jamahl Dunkle is an accomplished educator and literary professional, currently serving as a Board Member and Vice President of Awards for The National Book Critics Circle, Inc. since April 2024. Dunkle teaches various literature and creative writing courses at the University of California, Davis and Napa Valley College, with previous teaching roles at Sonoma State University, Clarion University, and Southeastern University. A former Program Manager at Cisco Systems, Dunkle has also dedicated time to poetry education through California Poets in the Schools. Dunkle holds a Ph.D. in English from Case Western Reserve University, an MFA in Poetry from New York University, and a B.A. in English from The George Washington University.
