Melanie D.'s work experience began in 2005 at Debenhams, where they worked as a Sales Advisor, providing excellent customer service while balancing commercial and customer needs. In 2008, they took on the role of Kent PESE Appeals Administrator and Assistant Examinations Officer at Simon Langton Girls' Grammar School, demonstrating effective communication skills, organization of information, and the ability to work under pressure. In 2010, they started working at the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science, University of Kent, where they served as a Stage One Tutor, teaching undergraduate students and balancing the demands of their Ph.D. Melanie also served as a Mentor and tutor at the university's Maths Clinic, providing one-on-one support for students using mathematics in various disciplines until 2013. In 2015, they became a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, conducting research in algebra and successfully concluding an EPSRC-funded project. In 2016, they joined Infectious Media as a Data Analyst, working their way up to becoming a Data Scientist by 2017. Finally, since 2018, Melanie D. has been a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment, starting as a Data Scientist and progressing to Senior Data Scientist before their current role as Manager, Data Science.
Melanie D. has a strong academic background in mathematics. Melanie completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics at Imperial College London from 2006 to 2010. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mathematics and its Applications at the University of Kent, graduating in 2011. Melanie D. continued their education at the University of Kent and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pure Mathematics from 2011 to 2015.
In addition to their academic pursuits, Melanie D. also obtained a certification as a Google Cloud Certified Professional - Data Engineer in May 2018, further highlighting their expertise in data engineering.
