Lars Steinmetz

Lars Steinmetz is a distinguished geneticist currently serving as the Chair of the Department of Genetics and the Dieter Schwarz Foundation Endowed Professor of Genetics at Stanford University School of Medicine, where also holds the position of Co-Director of the Stanford Genome Technology Center. With a long-standing affiliation with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) since 2003, Lars has held several key roles, including Associate Group Leader and Senior Scientist. Additionally, Lars is the Director of Life Science Alliance and Co-founder and President of the Scientific Advisory Board at Sophia Genetics SA. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Genetics from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University.
