Ray Marin-Florez

Ray Marin-Florez is an accomplished bioinformatician with extensive experience in pipeline development, currently serving as the Head of Pipeline Development and Release (Director) at SOPHiA GENETICS since October 2016. This role involves leading and designing innovative pipeline architectures to support various genomics and transcriptomics applications. Prior positions at SOPHiA GENETICS included Sr. Manager and Manager roles in Pipeline Development, where Ray contributed to the release of commercial products for genetic alteration detection across multiple domains and established standard operating procedures for bioinformatic pipelines. Ray's academic background includes a PhD in Bioinformatics from EPFL, complemented by a Master's in Theoretical Chemistry and a Bachelor's in Chemistry from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Previous research experience includes postdoctoral roles at the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and Université de Lausanne, focusing on RNA-seq data analysis and the evolution of sex chromosome systems.
