VP Labs Platform at Sophos

Guy Roberts has an extensive work experience in the cybersecurity industry. Guy started their career at Dr Solomon's Software, where they worked as a Software Developer and contributed to the development of Anti-Virus scanning for Novell Netware servers. Guy also played a key role in delivering the industry-first management tool called Management Edition.

Roberts then joined Network Associates, Inc. as a Lead Software Engineer, where they worked on various products, including the network management and reporting product called Anti-Virus Informant. This product later became a part of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and is considered the best End Point Security Management product in the industry.

At McAfee International Ltd, Roberts held multiple roles, including Head of Anti-Spam Research & Operations and Snr. Development Manager for GroupShield and WebShield products. Guy led teams in developing new techniques and technologies for Anti-Spam technology and Server Anti-Virus products.

During their tenure at McAfee, Roberts also served as the Director of Operations for Avert Labs, EMEA. Guy was responsible for the daily operations of Avert Labs in the region and led the development of the groundbreaking Artemis Technology, the first cloud-based detection and reputation system in the Anti-Malware space.

Guy then moved to Snr. Director of Engineering DeepSAFE Technology, where they headed the research and development of the DeepSAFE Technology and the first product, Deep Defender, a joint project of McAfee and Intel that leveraged hardware assistance to combat advanced malware.

After 2008, Roberts joined Sophos, where they held various roles, including Head of Malware Research, Snr. Director of Engineering for Sophos Labs, and currently, VP Labs Platform. In these positions, Roberts was responsible for leading global software engineering and operations teams and overseeing the development and maintenance of big data platforms and cloud threat analysis services.

Throughout their career, Roberts has demonstrated their ability to lead teams, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to the growth and success of the organizations they worked for. Their expertise in cybersecurity and their track record of delivering exceptional results make him a valuable asset in the industry.

Guy Roberts obtained a Double Honours degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Southampton, where they studied from 1990 to 1994. Guy has also completed various certifications, including Goal Setting: Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), Strategic Thinking, Critical Thinking, Security for the SMB: Implementing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CCSP Cert Prep: 1 Cloud Concepts, Architecture, and Design, Site Reliability Engineering: Service-Level Agreements and Objectives, and Succeeding in DevOps. The years of completion for these certifications are not provided.
