Jim Haran

Jim Haran, Ph.D. currently serves as the Head of Engineering and Vice President of Technology at SoundExchange, where responsibilities include acting as the primary interface between C-level stakeholders, product management, and the engineering team while facilitating a business transformation to marketable products. Previously, at Trustwave, Jim held the position of Vice President of Platform Research and Product Engineering, overseeing an Agile team focused on advancing threat detection via machine learning and Big Data. Additional experience includes roles as Vice President at Guggenheim Partners, where Jim specialized in performance and attribution for a $260B+ asset manager, and various managerial positions at The Northern Trust Company, where contributions spanned investment risk and compliance. Education includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Chicago and a BS in General Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
