Jungwoo Lee

Jungwoo Lee began their professional career in 2008 as a Research Assistant at Brown University. In 2010, they joined Panasonic Boston Laboratory as an Associate Engineer, where they developed pico-second laser systems and precision processing techniques for industrial manufacturing applications. Jungwoo also worked on process development of new methods and techniques for thin-film transistor (TFT) fabrication with carbon nanotubes and built a system for semiconductor device characterization. In 2012, they moved to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Research Engineer at the Photovoltaic Research Laboratory, where they managed development of silicon solar cells and modules for multijunction devices and integrated photovoltaic-electrochemical devices. In 2014, they became a Graduate Student Researcher at the Laboratory for Energy Storage and Conversion at the University of California, San Diego, where they conducted fundamental studies of solid state lithium-ion batteries through electron microscopy and spectroscopy. In 2016, they co-founded South 8 Technologies, where they served as the Chief Technology Officer and commercialized next generation energy storage devices using breakthrough electrolytes allowing for higher energy density, ultra-low temperature operation, and improved safety.

Jungwoo Lee received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and American Studies from Wellesley College in 2010. Jungwoo then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in NanoEngineering at UC San Diego, which they completed in 2016. Finally, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in NanoEngineering from UC San Diego in 2018.
