Gustavo de Carvalho is an accomplished academic and researcher focusing on international relations, peacebuilding, and governance in the African context. Currently serving as a Sessional Lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand and a Part-Time Senior Researcher at the South African Institute of International Affairs, Gustavo has developed and taught various courses on transnational issues and mediation in international conflicts. With extensive experience as a researcher and consultant in organizations such as the Institute for Security Studies and the United Nations Development Programme, Gustavo has led significant projects related to peace operations, conflict resolution, and capacity building. Holding advanced degrees from institutions including the University of Oxford and Universidade de Brasília, Gustavo’s expertise encompasses policy analysis, strategic initiative development, and international diplomacy, reinforced by a commitment to enhancing the capacity of African researchers.
