Jay Rooney

Jay Rooney is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in the racing industry. Currently serving as a Senior Production Editor - Racing at the South China Morning Post since February 2024, Jay previously held the position of Senior Racing Journalist at Seven West Media from September 2008 to January 2024, where responsibilities included leading the coverage of major racing events and collaborating with editors and photographers to create engaging stories and visually appealing layouts. Jay's career began as a Cadet Journalist at the Kalgoorlie Miner, focusing on horse racing and local sports. Jay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Curtin University, earned between 2005 and 2007.
