James A. Rice

James A. Rice is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in academia and consultancy. Currently, Rice serves as a freelance consultant for project and proposal development since September 2017 while also holding positions on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for the North American Grouse Partnership, Inc. Since August 1989, Rice has been a Professor Emeritus and previously held roles of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Biochemistry at South Dakota State University, focusing on analytical and environmental chemistry. Additionally, Rice was the Executive Director of the SD EPSCoR Program from 2002 to September 2017, served as Vice-chair and Member of the EPSCoR/IDeA Foundation Board, and chaired the NSF EPSCoR Project Director's Council. With a PhD in Geochemistry from the Colorado School of Mines and a diverse teaching and research background, Rice has significantly contributed to environmental organic geochemistry and the advancement of science and technology policies in South Dakota.
