Jason Schoch is an experienced professional currently serving as Project Director for the Tribal Local Foods AgrAbility and FRTEP SDSU Extension at South Dakota State University since January 2022. With a long tenure at SDSU Extension starting in December 2013, Jason has held several key roles, including AgrAbility Beginning Farmer Project Director and Beginning Farmer Rancher Program Manager. Additionally, Jason works as a Community Development Extension Associate with FRTEP SDSU Pine Ridge Extension and co-founded Can Wigmunke, the Rainbow Tree, while also freelancing as a photographer specializing in Old West themes, landscapes, and Native American culture. Founded in 1881, South Dakota State University is the state's Morrill Act land-grant institution as well as its largest, most comprehensive school of higher education. SDSU confers degrees from eight different colleges representing more than 175 majors, minors and specializations. The institution also offers 29 master's degree programs, 12 Ph.D. and two professional programs.The work of the university is carried out on a residential campus in Brookings, at sites in Sioux Falls, Pierre and Rapid City, and through Extension offices and Agricultural Experiment Station research sites across the state.
