South Lanarkshire Council

South Lanarkshire is a fantastic place to live and work. Situated at the heart of Scotland’s economic powerhouse, South Lanarkshire has so much to offer as a region to live, learn, raise a family, enjoy recreational activities and as a place for work and business. From the commercial and industrial areas of the north to the fertile, agricultural landscape in the south, South Lanarkshire offers outstanding opportunities for a full and diverse range of businesses operating within Scotland’s key growth sectors. Our unrivalled location means we offer everything a business and its employees need. Our area is home to just over 311,000 people and is one of the largest and most diverse areas of Scotland, covering 180,000 hectares stretching from a few miles from the city centre of Glasgow almost to the Scottish Border. We have four towns with populations of more than 20,000 (East Kilbride, Hamilton, Rutherglen and Cambuslang) and 23 other towns and settlements with more than 1000 residents. As a partner in the Clyde Gateway programme, our area is experiencing significant social, economic and physical changes especially following the recent completion of improvements to the Raith Interchange on the M74 which will continue to stimulate growth and competitiveness, establishing South Lanarkshire as one of the foremost places in the West of Scotland for start-up and established businesses to thrive. And with more than a £1billion investment being made available to businesses across the region as part of City Deal, small and medium size businesses (SMEs) have never been better placed with countless opportunities to deliver a wide range of goods and services to the area and beyond. www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk www.myjobscotland.gov.uk/councils/south-lanarkshire/jobs
