Xiaoling Liu

Xiaoling Liu is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the mining and metals industry, currently serving as a Non-Executive Director at South32 since September 2017. Xiaoling has held multiple significant board positions, including Non-Executive Director at Incitec Pivot Limited from November 2019 to May 2024 and Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology from January 2020 to June 2022. Previously, Xiaoling served as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Newcrest Mining and Iluka Resources, contributing to various committees focused on audit, risk, and remuneration. A former President and CEO of Rio Tinto Minerals, Xiaoling oversaw operations supplying a significant portion of the world's refined borates and held several leadership roles at Rio Tinto Aluminium. Education includes a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from Imperial College London and a Bachelor's Degree in the same field from Chongqing University, along with a Graduate certification from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
