Lily Blacksell

Literature Programmer, Southbank Centre at Southbank Centre

Lily Blacksell has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Lily is currently working as the Public Events and Partnerships Manager at the Royal Society of Literature since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the Southbank Centre in multiple roles, including Literature Programmer, Programming Coordinator in Literature, Spoken Word & Performance, Programming Assistant in Literature & Spoken Word, and Stewardship and Events Assistant from 2018 to 2022.

Lily also served as a Trustee at Quay Arts starting in February 2021. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Bookseller at the London Review of Books in 2018 and as a Publicity Assistant at PENNED IN THE MARGINS LTD from June 2018 to September 2018. Lily gained experience as a Member Services Assistant at the Whitney Museum of American Art from September 2017 to December 2017.

Lily Blacksell has had a strong involvement with Columbia University, where they held multiple roles. Lily worked as a Teaching Fellow, MFA Student in the Writing Program (Poetry), and Communications Fellow in the Writing Program from 2015 to 2017. Additionally, they served as a Creative Writing Instructor for the Summer High School Program at Columbia University School of Professional Studies in July 2017 to August 2017.

Furthermore, they served as the PR Manager at Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art from May 2016 to May 2017. Their academic journey began at the University of Birmingham, where they were a student from September 2012 to June 2015.
