Jay Lawrence

Jay Lawrence, MD, MBOE, CPE has extensive experience in healthcare leadership and innovation. Jay currently holds the position of SVP, Chief Transformation and Innovation Officer, Physician-in-Chief for Primary Care at Southcoast Health. In this role, they are responsible for providing strategic leadership for Southcoast Health Network, Digital Health Services, Primary Care, and Urgent Care. Jay is skilled in data analysis and utilizing key metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Prior to their current role, Jay Lawrence worked as the Chief Transformation and Innovation Officer at Care New England. Here, they developed and directed an innovation strategy aimed at advancing the organization towards becoming a leading healthcare platform in the region.

Earlier in their career, Jay Lawrence served in various roles at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, including Vice President of Quality Assurance & Improvement, Associate Chief Quality Officer for Ambulatory Care, and Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine. In these roles, they led the development of population health strategies and quality improvement programs. Jay also chaired clinical committees and workgroups, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to drive data-driven care transformation.

Jay Lawrence obtained their Chief Resident/Combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics Residency at UMass Memorial Medical Center, where they excelled in their leadership and teaching abilities, receiving recognition and awards for their outstanding contributions.

Jay Lawrence, MD, MBOE, CPE has a diverse education history. Jay obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), cum laude in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Jay later attended the UMass Chan Medical School, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Additionally, they completed a Master of Business Operational Excellence in Healthcare from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.

Jay Lawrence has also obtained certifications throughout their career. Jay is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) certified by the CERTIFYING COMMISSION IN MEDICAL MANAGEMENT INC. Jay is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Jay has also completed the Global Health Certificate Program at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Furthermore, they hold a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. Jay Lawrence currently holds an active Ohio Medical License issued by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
