Sonya Smoak

Dr. Smoak is the Director of SouthEast Eye Specialists’ Knoxville center where she also provides consultative optometric services, including pre- and post-operative care of surgical patients and the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and anterior segment disorders. Prior to joining SouthEast Eye Specialists, she worked with Southern Eye Associates of Memphis as a consultative optometrist and as the Director of Student Externs.

During her optometry training, she received numerous awards, including the Georgia Optometric Association’s Presidential Citation for Student Leadership and membership in the Gold Key International Optometrist Honor Society. Dr. Smoak is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is certified through the American Board of Optometry. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. She served as President of the East Tennessee Optometric Society in 2012. Her free time is spent with her husband David and their twins.
