Malay Ghose Hajra, PhD, PE, ENV SP has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Malay is currently serving as the Chief Engineer at Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority East since August 2023. Previously, they worked as an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII) and FAA Certificated Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) - Land. Malay also holds the position of Envision (Sustainability Rating Tool) Trainer at the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure since March 2019. Dr. Hajra has an academic background and served in various roles at the University of New Orleans, including Associate Professor and Department Chair, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Graduate Coordinator. Malay has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, having worked as a Regional Geotechnical Engineer and Geotechnical Engineer & Department Manager at Professional Service Industries, Inc., and Project Manager at Geotech Engineering and Testing (GET). Additionally, Dr. Hajra has FAA commercial pilot certifications for airplane single engine land and sea.

Malay Ghose Hajra, PhD, PE, ENV SP, has a strong educational background in civil engineering. Malay began their academic journey at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from 1992 to 1996. Malay then pursued a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, from 1996 to 1998. Continuing their academic pursuits, Malay Ghose Hajra earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University, which they completed from 1998 to 2001.
