Garrett Layton

Assistant Director Of Video Operations at Southeastern Conference

Garrett Layton has a diverse work experience in the field of digital media and video production. Garrett started their career as an Athletic Communications Multimedia Graduate Assistant at Canisius College in 2012 and worked there until 2014. During this time, they gained experience in directing and producing live athletic contests and creating video content for the athletic department.

In 2014, Garrett joined the University of Hartford as an Athletic Communications Assistant- Video Production. Here, they directed and produced live athletic contests, filmed postgame interviews, and edited highlight packages for various sports teams. Garrett also contributed to the development of a new athletic logo.

Garrett returned to Canisius College in 2015 as an Assistant Director of Digital Media. In this role, they produced live Canisius athletic events, directed and produced select athletic events on the athletic department website, and contributed to the production of various video content, including recruiting videos and feature stories. Garrett also played a role in the implementation of a new social media account and the development of academia programs for a live sports broadcasting major.

In 2016, Garrett had a brief stint as a Social Media Marketing Specialist at Haley Marketing before joining Canisius College once again in 2017 as the Director of Digital Media. In this position, they continued to produce live athletic events, oversee a group of undergraduate students, and create feature stories and online broadcasts. Garrett also taught a class on sports field production.

Most recently, Garrett joined the Southeastern Conference in 2021 as the Assistant Director of Video Operations, where they are currently employed. Additional details about their current role are not provided.

Garrett Layton obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Medaille University, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Garrett later pursued a Masters degree in Sport Administration at Canisius University, attending from 2012 to 2014.
