Rogelio Lozano

Rogelio Lozano has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Rogelio began their career as a Lab Intern and Technical Writer at Haarmann & Reimer, SA, where they conducted determinations for the QA laboratory and scaled and documented R&D laboratory procedures. Rogelio then moved on to work as a Quality Assurance Supervisor at Grupo Bimbo, where they supervised the quality assurance laboratory and implemented Good Manufacture Practices.

Following that, Rogelio worked as a Project Engineer at ARCO Sheet Metal, where they handled various project engineering tasks. Rogelio then joined Quimotech de Mexico, SA de CV as a Process Engineer, taking charge of an in-site waste effluent treatment project and successfully negotiating with clients and suppliers.

In 2007, Rogelio joined the University of Calgary as a Research Assistant, where they designed and built facilities for characterizing vapour-permeation membranes. Rogelio also developed laboratory documentation and testing procedures. After that, they worked at SAIT Polytechnic as a Subject Matter Expert and Course Content Developer, focusing on developing course material for the Water Operator for Hydraulic Fracturing program.

In 2012, Rogelio joined Trilogy Environmental Systems Inc. as an Engineering Coordinator, where they coordinated engineering activities. Rogelio then moved on to work at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) as a Lead Project Coordinator. In this role, they led research projects on water treatment challenges and explored innovative technologies.

Currently, Rogelio holds the position of Operations Lead at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). In this role, they negotiate and plans applied research projects in Energy, Cleantech, and Water treatment. Rogelio oversees project execution, ensures alignment with objectives, and fosters collaboration across teams, promoting innovation and ensuring project success.

Rogelio Lozano holds a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary, which they obtained from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon from 1996 to 2001. Rogelio also holds additional certifications including a Professional Engineer (PE) designation from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) obtained in 2022, as well as certifications in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) obtained in 2012.
