Christopher Wewers brings over 20 years of executive-level management of financial institutions to the Company, where he is responsible for the financial management of all three of Southern’s entities. Prior to joining Southern, Wewers, who is a member of the ASCPA and AICPA, served as Chief Executive Officer of Bear State Financial (NASDAQ: BSF), CFO of Summit Bank of Arkadelphia, and COO of both Community Bank of North Arkansas and Merchants and Planters Bank. In 2006, Wewers was recognized as one of Arkansas Business’ “40 Under 40” and in 2010 was recognized as the publication’s “CFO of the Year. A graduate of Henderson State University (HSU) where he received his bachelor’s degree and the University of Arkansas where he received his MBA, Wewers currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Henderson State University Foundation Board of Directors, the Chairman of the HSU Business Advisory Council and in 2014 was inducted into the HSU Business Hall of Fame.
