Steve May

Principal Engineer at Southern Company

Steve May has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Steve began their career as a Substation Design Engineer at the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia in 1982 and stayed in this role until 1988. Steve then joined the Georgia Power Company and held various positions including Sr. Test Engineer from 1988 to 2000, Sr. Protection & Control Engineer from 2000 to 2008, and P&C Applications Supervisor from 2008 to 2010. Following this, Steve joined the Southern Company in 2010, where they served as the Protection & Control Application Supervisor until 2017 and is currently working as a Principal Engineer.

Steve May completed their undergraduate education at Pennsylvania State University-Erie Campus from 1977 to 1979, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Steve then moved on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University from 1979 to 1982. Steve specialized in the field of power during their studies.
