Gena Albert

Business/Administrative Associate, University Events & Protocol at Southern Illinois University

Gena Albert has been working in higher education for over 15 years. Gena began their career at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in August 2005 as a Hall Director. In this role, they were responsible for the overall operation of a residence hall, including supervising resident assistants and managing the budget.

In June 2009, Gena was promoted to Coordinator of Conference Services. In this role, they were responsible for providing on-campus lodging to visiting individuals, including youth and adult conference participants, international students, visiting faculty and lecturers, and future members of the SIUC community.

In December 2012, Gena was promoted to Interim Assistant Director of Academic Initiatives. In this role, they supported all academic-related programming and initiatives in University Housing, including Living Learning Communities, faculty and staff associates, and academic recognition.

In March 2015, Gena was promoted to Assistant Director of New Student Programs. In this role, they supported the orientation, transition, and retention of all incoming first-year and transfer students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Currently, Gena is a Business/Administrative Associate for University Events & Protocol at Southern Illinois University. In this role, they are responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of university events and protocol initiatives.

Gena Albert has a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Bradley University, and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and Spanish from Bradley University. Gena is certified in Heartsaver CPR AED by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.

Gena Albert works with Jak Tichenor - Interim Executive Director, Broadcasting Service, Lea Maue - Director, Head Start. Gena Albert reports to Matt Baughman, Chief of Staff.
