Paul Welch

Chair, Anthropology at Southern Illinois University

Paul Welch has been the Chair of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University since January 2012. Prior to that, they were a Documentation Technician at Bunn-O-Matic Corporation from December 2010 to January 2012. Paul was also the Logistics Coordinator and Engineering Technician at Innoventor, Inc. from June 2010 to December 2010.

In their current position, Paul is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the anthropology department, including drafting complete drawings for parts and assemblies, documenting new parts and finished goods, and providing classroom instruction on new and changing processes and procedures.

In their previous positions, Paul was responsible for coordinating transportation and shipping of fabricated parts for project managers, as well as aiding in the final assembly of projects. Paul was also instrumental in establishing the logistics coordinator position, which they held for two years.

Paul Welch received their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and their B.S. in Physics from Western Illinois University. Paul is certified by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as a PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER INTERN (EIT) and by GoLeanSixSigma.com as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.

They are on a team with Segun Ojewuyi - Chair, Theater, William Hellriegel - Director, Center for English as a Second Language, and Leo Gadzekpo - Interim Director, Africana Studies. Paul Welch reports to Andrew Balkansky, Interim Dean, College of Liberal Arts.
