Todd Nicholas is a Central Design Senior Engineer at Southern Nuclear, where responsibilities include serving as Site Lead for the Farley Nuclear Plant TIER 1 Excellence Standard Plan and leading the design and implementation of the Circulating Water Purate project. Previous roles at Southern Nuclear include Engineering Fix-It-Now Senior Engineer, overseeing the Temporary Configuration Control Program, and System Engineer, focusing on the reliability and performance of the Main Steam system. Todd began a career as an Automation Engineer at MAVERICK Technologies, specializing in Digital Control Systems and data management. Educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University and studies at Mississippi State University.

Southern Nuclear operates a total of seven units for Alabama Power and Georgia Power at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant near Dothan, Ala.; the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant near Baxley, Ga., and the Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, Ga. The company recently achieved commercial operation on Vogtle Unit 3 and is the current licensee of Vogtle Unit 4, which is under construction. Both of these units represent historic achievements for the nuclear industry as the first new nuclear units to reach commercial operation and be built in the United States in the last three decades.
