Chris Mihal

Creative Director at Southern Poverty Law Center

Chris Mihal is the creative director at the Southern Poverty Law Center, overseeing the creative team’s art, photography, video, and design work.

Mihal was previously the design director for Barron’s financial magazine. His experience also includes assisting with the rebranding and redesign of the weekly Variety magazine. His work for these magazines included numerous photo shoots with celebrities and leading business executives. Earlier, he worked at newspapers in Atlanta; Phoenix; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and the Northeastern United States. He was involved in numerous newspaper redesigns and rebrands in editorial, marketing, and advertising.

Mihal has been recognized by the Art Directors Club, The Society of Publication Designers, the Society for News Design, Communication Arts, American Illustration, and American Photography. The Los Angeles Press Club has honored him with eight first-place awards and more than two dozen award nominations.
