Amy A. Carter currently serves as the Special Assistant to the President at Southern Regional Technical College since January 2021. Prior to this role, Carter was the Deputy Commissioner for Rural Georgia Initiatives at the Georgia Department of Economic Development from March 2018 to December 2020. From January to March 2018, Carter was the Executive Director of Stewardship and Development at the Technical College System of Georgia. Earlier in a notable political career, Carter served as a State Representative for District 175 in the Georgia General Assembly from January 2007 to December 2017, while also working as a Classroom Teacher at Lowndes High School from August 2001 to December 2017. Carter's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching from Valdosta State University, obtained between 1988 and 1993, with additional teaching experience as an Instructor at Valdosta Technical College and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College from September 1993 to June 2001.
