Monica Mason

Monica Mason has over 30 years of work experience, primarily at Southern Research. Monica began their career in 1991 as a Research Assistant and gradually moved up to roles such as Laboratory Supervisor, Scientific Resources Manager, and Operations Manager. In these positions, they oversaw scientific and technical resources, managed laboratory operations, and supervised a team of up to 22 employees. In 2018, Monica joined the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB as a Program Manager II. Monica returned to Southern Research in 2019 as a Quality Assurance Auditor I before being promoted to their current role as the Director of Core Lab Services.

Monica Mason has a Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Monica also holds a Certificate in Histotechnology from the Indiana University School of Medicine. In 2019, Monica pursued a Master's degree in Anatomic Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing it in 2020. Additionally, they obtained a certification as an HT from the ASCP in August 2007.
