Robert R. Horger

Robert R. Horger is a partner with the firm of Horger, Barnwell & Reid, LLP located in Orangeburg, South Carolina and has practiced law with the firm since 1975. With 42 years of experience in the legal profession, Horger has practiced in the fields of litigation, commercial real estate, business law and healthcare law. Presently, he serves as general counsel of the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties and for a period of 14 years served as Orangeburg County Attorney.

Horger is an honor graduate of both Wofford College and the University of South Carolina Law School. Serving on the Board of South State Corporation since 1991, Horger held the position as Vice Chairman from 1994 to 1998 and subsequently served as Chairman for 22 years. During his tenure as Chairman, the Company has grown from $545 million in assets to over $14 billion in assets today with offices located in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He also serves on the Board of the Governor’s School for Arts and Humanities, appointed by Governor Nikki Haley.

Horger is a member of a number of professional associations and has been active in civil affairs including service on various charitable boards.
