Leigh Purnell

Leigh Purnell has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. They started their career as an INROADS Intern at Reliance Insurance, where they participated in an internship and training program for underrepresented college students. Following that, they worked as a Teacher at Universal Companies and later joined Hopeworks 'N Camden as a Literacy Director.

Leigh then transitioned to the education sector and served as a Teacher at Methacton School District before taking on the role of Adjunct Instructor at Harcum College. They later joined Reading School District as an Assistant Principal and subsequently became the Principal of The Laboratory Charter School of Communication and Languages.

In 2017, Leigh took on the position of CAO/Principal at Southwest Leadership Academy Charter School and eventually became the Chief Executive Officer. Their work experience also includes working as a Private Tutor and a role as an Instructor for a total of 17 years.

Leigh Purnell's education history began in 1998 when they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Howard University. From 2003 to 2005, they pursued a Master's degree in Elementary Education at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. In 2010, Leigh Purnell attended Cabrini University, where they earned a Principal's Certification in Educational Leadership and Administration, General, which was completed in 2012.

Leigh Purnell furthered their education at King's College in 2022, obtaining a Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility. They then pursued a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Arcadia University, starting in 2023 and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in this field.

In addition to their formal education, Leigh Purnell obtained additional certifications. They received a Superintendent PK-12 certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in August 2023. They also hold the certifications of Elementary Education K-6 Teacher and K-12 Principal from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
