Kristi Nelson is an experienced journalist currently serving as an Anchor and Reporter for KXAS-TV NBC 5 News since August 2001. In addition to their role at NBC News, Nelson has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Southwest Transplant Alliance since March 2016. Previous positions include General Assignment Reporter and NBC News Associate at WVIT NBC 30 News from 2000 to 2001, and authoring "The Chamique Holdsclaw Story" during time at Scholastic from 1999 to 2000. Nelson's early career involved writing and editing for the National Basketball Association from 1997 to 1999 and reporting for The Cincinnati Enquirer and Philadelphia Inquirer. Nelson holds a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of North Texas.
