Saskia Esken

Saskia Esken has been serving as Parteivorsitzende of Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (SPD) since December 2019 and has held the position of Abgeordnete in the Deutscher Bundestag since October 2013, where participation includes membership in the Committee on Digital Agenda, the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment, as well as being a deputy member of the Interior Committee and a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Sustainable Development. Prior to their political career, Saskia Esken worked as a Software Developer at IBM Deutschland GmbH from August 1990 to January 1993 and at USU AG from March 1993 to July 1996. Education includes a degree as staatlich geprüfte Informatikerin (state-certified computer scientist) in Computer Software Technology from Akademie für Datenverarbeitung in Böblingen, completed between 1988 and 1991.
