Johnny Uwe Debrodt Sarabia

Johnny Uwe Debrodt Sarabia has a strong background in database engineering and software development. Johnny Uwe is currently the Head of Database Engineering at Space and Time, a position they have held since May 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the Head of Engineering for the Athena/EMR Trino Query Engine from June 2021 to May 2023. Before joining AWS, Johnny was the Director of Software Development at Appian Corporation from October 2018 to May 2021. During their time at Appian, they held various leadership roles including Tribe Lead of the Appian Data Tribe and Technology Lead of Appian's Data vision/strategy. Johnny Uwe was responsible for the success and alignment of multiple teams, ensuring the reliability of database instances deployed in AWS, and defining the data vision/strategy. Johnny Uwe also coached and mentored a significant number of direct and indirect reports. Prior to their role as Director of Software Development, Johnny worked at Appian Corporation as a Software Development Manager from May 2006 to May 2013 and as a Principal Software Developer from January 2006 to May 2013. In these roles, they were involved in project management, talent management, and co-created features for Appian's proprietary in-memory database. Johnny Uwe also served on the Rapid Response Team, addressing outages of the database.

Johnny Uwe Debrodt Sarabia attended Tecnológico de Monterrey from 2000 to 2004. Johnny Uwe earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Computer Software Engineering during their time at the university.
