Peiran Gao

Peiran Gao is a Principal Software Engineer at SpaceX, focusing on Starlink network engineering since November 2015, having previously served as a Principal Data Scientist and Lead Data Scientist in the same field. Gao's expertise includes intelligent model- and data-driven fault diagnostics and detection systems, as well as statistical machine learning for automated data review and system health management in launch vehicle contexts. Prior experience includes a role as a Bioengineering graduate student at Stanford University, specializing in neuromorphic engineering and theoretical neuroscience, along with a brief internship at SpaceX in propulsion data science. Gao began a research career as a Research Assistant at UC Berkeley. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Theoretical Neuroscience and an MS in Neuromorphic Engineering from Stanford University, along with a BA in Physics, Neurobiology, and a minor in EECS from UC Berkeley.
