Alejandro Garcia Diaz

Alejandro Garcia Diaz, M.A. is a dedicated researcher currently serving as a PhD student at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) since November 2021, focusing on the mechanisms of resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors in breast cancer patients. Previously, Alejandro held the position of Senior Staff Associate and Genome Editing lead at Columbia University, specializing in gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Alejandro also managed laboratory operations at the Jennifer Estess Laboratory for Stem Cell Research, where responsibilities included culturing human and mouse stem cells and overseeing compliance with biohazard regulations. Alejandro has a robust educational background with two Master of Arts degrees in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.

The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre is a public institution of excellence committed to research, diagnosis and treatment for cancer. The CNIO currently houses 22 Research Groups, organised in 7 Scientific Programmes, plus 5 Clinical Research Unit(s) that work closely with several hospitals.
