Irene Salgado Crespo, MD, is a dedicated researcher currently pursuing a PhD at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) since November 2021, specializing in brain metastasis. Irene participated in the EIT Health SciFi Programme in late 2022, where a selection of 40 young researchers from Europe aimed to enhance skills for bridging academia and industry. Previous research internships include work at the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Gregorio Marañón focusing on translational oncology and at the Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research, studying the therapeutic potential of microRNA in lymphoma. While studying at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Irene was a high-performance athlete, representing Spain in the Olympic shooting team. Irene holds a Master's degree in Biomolecules and Cell Dynamics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
