Gareth Jones

Gareth Jones has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Gareth is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Sparrow Connected since June 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Microsoft from 2018 to 2022 as the Principal Group Software Engineering Manager (Security).

Before joining Microsoft, Gareth held various roles at The Walt Disney Company from 2011 to 2018. Gareth served as the Director, International Direct to Consumer Technology, overseeing engineering, quality assurance, tech operations, and security teams. Gareth was also the Director of Technology for Club Penguin, where they streamlined engineering platforms and dev ops processes, led the migration to a new mobile technology stack, and launched the German localized version of the game.

Earlier in their career, Gareth worked at msnbc.com as the Director of Video and Device Development, where they led teams in video delivery, mobile device development, and ad revenue generation from 2006 to 2011. Prior to that, they had been employed by Microsoft. Gareth served as a Technical Program Manager for Microsoft Solutions for Security and Compliance and later as a Consultant for Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) in Canada.

Gareth's career began as an Independent Consultant, providing full-stack development services and internet setup for various clients, including BBC News, MSN, Conde Nast, Mars, and Nationwide Building Society.

Gareth Jones received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer and Communication Systems from the University of Greenwich, where they studied from 1988 to 1992.
