CIO at Spartan SME Finance

Yusuf Baker has had a long and varied career in the IT industry. Yusuf started their career in 1999 as the Director of Research and Development at Zara Financial Systems. In 2001, they co-founded Xiriuz Systems and served as the Director of Operations & Research and Development. In 2008, they became the IT subcommitee chair at Marang Fianacial Services (NPO), a non-executive director role in which they and their fellow board members engaged in strategy and laying plans to alleviate poverty in rural areas. In 2010, they were appointed CIO at Spartan. Unfortunately, the board at Marang Fianacial Services (NPO) had the difficult task of navigating through the snares to liquidate the business as they had failed in raising capital for the business.

Yusuf Baker's education history includes a Master of Commerce in Information Systems from the University of the Witwatersrand (2016-2017), a Master of Arts in Applied Ethics from the University of the Witwatersrand (2010-2013), an MBA in Finance and Strategy Execution from GIBS Business School (2008-2009), and a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Economics and Information Systems from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (1992-1996).
