Louay Ghashash

Louay Ghashash has a diverse work experience in the field of information security and consulting. Louay started their career as a Partner/Co-founder at Babylon Systems in 1999 and later worked as a Service Delivery Manager at Universal Knowledge Solutions from 2002 to 2003. Louay then served as a Senior Network and Security Manager at Total E&P from 2004 to 2006, and as the National Network and Security Manager at Bostik Australia from 2006 to 2008.

From 2008 to 2009, Louay worked as an IT Security and Compliance Manager at Intralot. Louay then joined Transport Certification Australia as an IT Manager, handling security, risk, and compliance from 2009 to 2012.

In 2012, Louay started working at Telstra, initially as a Senior Security Consultant specializing in external information security consulting. Louay later transitioned to the role of Managing Security Consulting from 2015 to 2017. During their time at Telstra, they focused on areas such as information security governance, vulnerability assessment, compliance with standards such as PCI-DSS and 27001, business continuity planning, disaster recovery planning, and security/risk management for large transition and transformation projects.

Following their tenure at Telstra, Louay worked at NCC Group as the National Client Partner for APAC from 2017 to 2018, and served as a Technical Advisory Board member for Cyber Security at ACS (Australian Computer Society) starting in 2017. Most recently, in 2018, they joined SpartansSec as the Director and Chief Information Security Officer.

Louay Ghashash obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Damascus University in the years 1994 to 1999. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Networking Systems Engineering from the University of Plymouth between 2003 and 2004. In addition, Louay Ghashash holds several certifications in various areas of information security and risk management, including CDPSE, PCI QSA, CRISC, CISM, CISA, and ITILv3 Foundation.
